Mega! - New Magazine Launched Next Month

As reported by John Freeman over on Down The Tubes, a new magazine is launching on the 6th of February and goes by the name of Mega!. Going by the above cover, the magazine looks very similar to Toxic, using both T.V. celebrities and cartoons to fill up its pages, alongside some new Jamie Smart comic strips.

The only negative so far is the awful cover. At first glance you can't tell which word is the title, as it appears the same size as every other bit of text and is crammed into one corner, so that as much as possible can fit on the cover. Hopefully this will be sorted out when the comic is actually published, as the cover is the main selling point and should look nice and tidy!

Mega! is published by Immediate Media and will come out monthly for £2.99 - the same price as The Phoenix!

That IS horrible-looking... Even if I was in the target age group I wouldn't buy this - "celebrities" should be kept out of the lives of kids as much as possible.

Remember a comic/puzzle magazine called Cosmic in the mid-late 1990s? I stopped getting that when they started putting celebrities in it as well.

Seeing as how you've been behaving yourself and your spelling has improved a bit, I've reinstated you to my blog list. No doubt your hits will now increase by about a million percent (he deluded himself).

I'm getting sick and tired with these stupid comic-magazines. Toxic is the worst "comic" I have ever read in my life with simple cop-outs to gross humour because they're not original enough to actually tell a funny joke.

Still, at least the speech bubbles are better than Toxic's.

Cover is horrible though - just stick some Jamie Smart artwork on there as the main image and maybe the magazine could actually look good!

no comic or magazine has ever looked good with Jamie Smart artwork on the cover - or inside

@Murray

You say that like it's fact. That all comes down to opinion. I for one love Jamie's writing and art and always like to see a cover by him.

I stopped buying Filmfun when celebs came in and sure enough it only lasted 33 years.

I stopped buying Dandy after its not very *smart* new direction in 2010 and sure enough it only lasted a couple of years

@Murray

Your comment wasn't very *smart* though. Do your research before you begin the hating - Jamie Smart joined The Dandy roughly in 2005 drawing Space Raoul.

who's talking about when he started? I was referring to him designing the 2010 look of the comic. seems my comment was smarter than you are. hating? are you for real?

The question is is Murray McNair for real. Nary did not design the look, just the logos.

Murray McNair said...

don't know who Nary is, but Smart designed the logos which defined the whole look of the comic

How many aliases does this troll have in his quest to demean the work of Smart, et al?

Mega is still going so Smart must be doing something right?

Mega. Still going.
