The Bigger than ever Beano!

These two Beano books are amongst the first comics I had - I'm going to call them comics even though they don't have any comic strips in them. The first, pictured above is the "Dennis and Gnasher Biggest Puzzle Book Ever!" published in 2000. This book defintaly is "bigger than ever", with over (approx.) 300 pages!

It looks like all these puzzles have been reprinted in this book, most likely taken from past Beanos - probably the fun size comics.

The next book was published ten years ago in 2002 and is called the "Dennis and Gnasher Bigger Than Ever Joke Book".

Like the puzzle book, these jokes look as though they have been reprinted from past publications, such as this one which features Colonel Blink who never even appeared in The Beano!

I don't know is any more of these "bigger" books were published, as these are the only two I've heard of.

The puzzles could be from The Beano Comic Library Puzzle Book, which ran monthly alongside the regular comic libraries and The Dandy Comic Library Cartoon Book. The Cartoon and Puzzle Books featured characters from all the Thomson humour comics of the time (Beano, Dandy, Beezer, Topper, and Nutty).

There's another in this "giant" series called Cartoon Capers, and it's a 300-page version of Classics From The Comics.

It's on Amazon for 1p, and it'll be the best penny you'll ever spend, I guarantee!

Thanks for clearing it up James!

300 pages is a lot of comic strips, and for just a penny! Wow! I'm on my way to Amazon now...
