Episode 16 |
It's now time for the third and final part of Faceache's strips in Jet. This includes the remaining seven episodes from the weekly Jet comics and the strip from the one and only Jet annual - a two-pager that is Faceache's only Jet strip with any colour. As ever the excellent Ken Reid illustrates them. Number 18 is my favourite here, although number 21 is also good as it features a Frankenstein model and a character which looks a bit like Mickey from the Frankie Stein strip - a reference by Ken, perhaps?

Sadly that concludes this short series but if you'd like to read more Faceache strips Irmantas showed all the Christmas episodes over on his excellent blog Kazoop. The first part can be found here:

Excellent stuff, George. I remember most of them from when I first read them in 1971. To think that Ken Reid was still drawing the strip right up until his death around 15 years later. (I'd love to see the unfinished one left on his desk, wouldn't you?)
As far as I know there is nothing much to see of that last episode – it only has one unfinished panel with some pencil doodles and the figure of Faceache inked in.
Still be good to see 'though, Irmantas. It would give a good indication of how he worked.
I agree that it would still be good to see his unfinished one, but also quite sad.
Wonderful stuff - enjoyed reading those with my morning coffee - I can't imagine these strips being published today with the dark horror element (especially as it was done so well by Reid)- great stuff
