Fleetway Firsts... Thundercap!
Dozy Davis is an ordinary boy who is just that - dozy! Well, he is until he puts his cap on, and he instantly turns into a schoolboy superhuman, with incredible knowledge in every possible subject as well as super strength and speed! But why does his hat give him such fantastic powers? Read the story below to find out...
Thundercap was illustrated by the fantastic Mike Higgs, and lasted for just under two years in Buster. It started a few weeks after Buster's big revamp in issue dated 27th June 1987 and ended in October 1989. Mike has a very modern style that was years ahead of its time and he would definitely fit into the current Beano. I'm a bit disappointed he doesn't draw for it - he's a great storyteller!

Mike didn't create Thundercap. The scripts were sent to him, written by Roy Davis. But I agree he did a fantastic job with it! I still see Mike every few weeks.
He's a great artist, it would be nice to see him drawing for the Beano.
Am I right in thinking he wrote his scripts for The Cloak in Pow?
Yes he wrote and drew all The Cloak strips except for ones in a Pow Annual which were done (badly) by an artist from an agency without consulting Mike.
Mike's semi-retired now but he still compiles books for Blasé Books and Ugly Duckling Press.
